Snow Goose

So I've been trapped inside my house for 4 days now. Mommy wouldn't let me out, saying it was too cold to be outside. Apparently there was a lot of ice on the ground due to the Arctic Blast of 2011. But this morning, I awoke to a new surprise. Instead of seeing just ice everywhere, I looked out the window and saw white powdery stuff everywhere. It was SNOW! I remember last year when we a lot of snow and I got to go play in it. The minute I computed this, I started asking to go outside. Surely Mommy and Daddy would see reason to letting me run around in it!

Around 10am, Mommy finally caved and said, "Okay. Let's go play in the snow!" So I got my wish! Mommy bundled me up in layer upon layer of clothing and out we went. She even helped me make a snow goose, a snow pig and a snow angel. Maybe when Daddy gets done working, we can go out again and make a snow MAN!

Hooray for snow!

Baby Brother is coming!

The days of my reign as the only child in the family is coming to a close. Mommy and Daddy have really been making an effort to spend extra time with me. I'm thinking now might be the time to ask for extra tools I'm going to need to take over the world. You know, now that they're so pliable and willing to give in.

My baby brother officially has a name, too. Mommy and Daddy told me his name is Dominic Isaiah. I think it's a suitable little brother name. I've been helping Daddy get his room ready. He even let me stir the paint for the room.

Dominic's going to live right next door to me. I'm very excited about the prospect of having someone new to play with, but my Mommy and Daddy keep asking me, "Are you going to share your toys with Dominic?" Um, look parents. I'm saying yes now to appease you, but I think you're going to be in for a shock when you come to the realization that those toys are MINE and not Dominic's. I worked hard for them and he's going to have to earn his keep by working for his own toys. He'll have to learn to bust out the charm, just like I did and be rewarded with new books and dinosaurs and race cars. If they think I'm just going to blindly hand over my toys, well, they have another thing coming. But for now, to keep Mommy stress free and Daddy in a happy mood, I'll continue to say yes.

He's going to be here in just about 6 weeks. Guess it's probably time I put together an instruction manual for Dominic so he's prepared on how to be a little brother to the most awesome big brother in the world. He also needs brush up on the skills needed for world domination. My hope is that he'll be a good asset to my team. I guess we'll find out pretty soon.

I'm a big kid now

I have some happy news to report. I am officially potty trained! I know that none of you doubted my success in this, as I'm extremely awesome, but I have to toot my own horn just a bit. Mommy and Daddy started this business of going to the bathroom in the potty a few months ago. At first, I entertained my parents by occasionally obliging. But then I was still having those embarrassing accidents. Mommy and Daddy decided to forgo using Pull-Ups, as Mommy said they're just "glorified diapers that cost twice as much." So I was in "big boy" pants, but still not having much success.

After a couple of months of frustration, Mommy came up with a new plan (one that she swore she wouldn't do, but she claims desperation). She started giving me candy for succeeding. She'd tried happy dances and stickers, but I wasn't interested in those things. Her new plan was genius (thank you, Aunt Liz). I wasn't getting nearly as frustrated when I had a goal.

Get. Candy.

I quickly figured out that if I attempted to go (and even if I didn't succeed), she would reward me with something like one M&M. And if I actually went potty, I got two! This was a plan that was made for me. I know how to work a system. And if I did the big deed (pretty sure you can figure out what deed that would be), I got a super awesome reward. A sucker!

I've pretty much been accident free for a couple of weeks. Mommy reworked her system a little and now I only get one M&M for going potty and two M&M's for doing the big deed. I haven't seen a sucker for a while. But occasionally she'll surprise me and reward me with one.

Needless to say, I'm pretty proud of myself. I still have to tackle holding it while I sleep, but during the day, I'm golden. It feels good to not be in those crummy diapers anymore during the day. And my Spiderman underwear that I now proudly sport is super stylin'.

Big News!

I have a very important announcement to make.

I'm going to be a big brother in March!!

Now, I'm not entirely sure what that means. My mom and dad keep asking me where this "baby" is (which I have yet to actually see), but because I don't want them to catch on how confused I am that I can't actually see a baby, I just say, "In the baby tummy." After all, Mommy keeps telling me that the baby is sleeping in there, so I figured that answer was reasonable. But I'm not quite sure how it got in their to curl up and take a nap. To be honest, I don't think it would be that comfortable. But who am I to judge another person's sleeping spot. I wonder what having a baby brother or sister means? Surely Mommy and Daddy won't expect me to share all MY toys or share their attention. I'm almost positive this baby will understand that Mommy and Daddy are MINE. I mean, there really is no other choice, am I correct? You don't share a Mommy and a Daddy...do you?

In other news, we've been having fun together as a family a lot lately. Trips to the Ft. Worth Zoo, Grapevine's Paradise Pond, the park, watching K-State Games, and starting Mother's Day Out or what I call school. It's so much fun! I've meet loads of new friends and I even get to "rest" on a nap mat. I'm going to school three times a week, which Mommy has been grateful for. It's been allowing her to study for her super important test she's taking this week to become a real life counselor!! Lots going on in the Freeland family.

Summer Time!

This summer has been a busy one for me. I've been doing all kinds of things. Mom got me enrolled in swimming lessons and I'm loving them. I can jump into the pool to her now and even go underwater for about 4-5 seconds. Although I'm not to keen on floating on my back yet, I do enjoy singing the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Song that my teacher has us sing when we try to float.

I've finally moved up to a big boy bed too! It's awesome to be able to crawl in and out of bed on my own whenever I want. Since I've moved to my big boy bed though, I've found that it's fun to wake up at 6:00 am. Now I have even more time to play! Mommy and Daddy are super happy about that.

It's been really hot here in Texas. Mommy keeps talking about wanting to move because she's so hot. I say, let's just stay inside and watch a show. Then we're comfy in the A/C and can still enjoy living where we're at.

My Great Aunt Gaila and cousin Larisa came to visit us for a day too! That was fun. They live in Bolivia so we don't get to see them very often. I had a lot of fun playing with them.

Grandma and Grandpa Freeland also came down to visit and stayed with us and my other cousins for a few days. Since it was over the Fourth of July, Daddy showed me how to light fireworks (okay, he didn't show me how, but I did take notes...). Daddy busted out his old trumpet to prove to Grandma and Grandpa that he could still play. I even took a stab at it.

So far, summer has been awesome. I'm hoping that my Grandma and Grandpa Von Fange will be able to come visit me in August. If they do, I promise I'll have more photos to share! Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Party Animal

Don't anybody tell me I don't know how to party! My birthday party and Mommy's graduation party was a huge success! We had the most awesome food and such great friends join us to celebrate! I was able to play with a lot of my friends and I was happy they came to see me!

The celebration extravaganza started the day of my actual birthday and went for a whole week! The first day, Mommy and Daddy treated me to Chic-Fil-A! I even got to indulge in some ice cream and a special Cookies and Cream Cupcake from What's Up Cupcake! De-licious! Mommy and Daddy also surprised me with a new tricycle! This set of wheels is sure to serve me well as I start recruiting other kids in the neighborhood to help me with my plans to take over the world. I mean, I've got style now. Who could refuse me?

Dinner at Chic-Fil-A with Daddy and Mommy
My yummy cupcake! It was so good, I ate the whole thing
Mommy trying to figure out how to put my tricycle together.Seriously? Who's going to say no to this face?

Then it was time to really get the celebrating underway. Saturday came and what a party we threw! My best friends (and many of Mommy's best friends) came to live it up with us, dining on fresh, grass-fed beef from Genesis Beef (thanks for grilling the hamburgers, Uncle Paul!) and awesome salad, chips, drinks and C-A-K-E! Mommy made all of my cupcakes from scratch and they were delicious! I think she's pretty creative to throw all this together, while trying to graduate at the same time. :) Daddy cleaned out our garage and we set up shop early Saturday morning. I was really excited that several of my grandmas were able to join us! Grandma Von Fange came in early on Wednesday and then Grandma and Grandpa Freeland, Great Grandma Renberger and Great Grandma Freeland arrived on Friday night. I wish they could have stayed longer. Their visits are always too short!

Here are a few pictures from my joint party with Mommy to celebrate her graduation from Dallas Baptist University. I'm so proud of her!

I want to eat those cupcakes!

Look at all my friends, chowing down on those delicious hamburgers!
Uncle Paul, the ultimate griller (aside from my awesome Daddy!)

I ate my WHOLE hamburger. I'm awesome. My sweet Aunt Ali and Uncle Chris came and brought Baby Olivia.
I think I see a girlfriend in my future.I'm a simple guy. I love a plain ol' box.All of us Freeland cousins! Aren't we a good looking group?Daddy totally surprised Mommy with a new bag to carry her NEW computer in!
Needless to say, she was excited! Daddy failed to mention that it was all MY idea. But that's okay, I'll give him the credit this time.
Great Grandma Freeland was really happy to spend some time with me!
So was Great Grandma Renberger.
Enjoying my new bicycle!

I loved getting to color in my big book from Aunt Sabrina! I think my Mommy enjoyed it too...
So glad I got to spend some good quality time with my Ba-Ba!

Now that the partying is over, it's time to rest, relax and enjoy the whole summer with my Mommy! It's going to be a great three months!
